FAQs

What are the camp dates, hours, and rates?
Camp runs from June 30 to August 15, with no session on Friday, July 4th. The full camp day operates from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with drop-off beginning at 8:50 AM and pick-up starting at 3:50 PM. We also offer partial-day programs. Click here to view our program options and corresponding rates.

What ages do you accept?
We accept campers ages 2 to 12, with groups based on rising age/grade. Our 2 to 8 year olds are eligible for our typical day camp programming and our 9 to 12 year olds enjoy our Creativity Camp. Learn more about Creativity Camp here!

What types of food do you serve at lunch and snack?
All food served and prepared adheres to kosher dietary laws and is completely nut-free. Campers enjoy delicious, healthy snacks and hot lunches. You will receive the camp menu in June. Additionally, we provide extra options at lunch for our picky eaters. You can review a sample menu here.

What is included in tuition?
All campers receive daily kosher and nut-free snacks. Campers aged 3 and up enjoy a daily kosher and nut-free lunch. For your convenience, we provide complimentary towels (which stay at camp) for each camper during swim periods. Additionally, all campers will receive a Beth El Day Camp T-shirt and camp bag!

Does camp offer any tuition discounts?
Yes! If this is your first summer attending Beth El Day Camp, we offer your family a $200 discount. We also provide a sibling discount of $200 for the second and third enrolled siblings. If you refer a new family to camp, you will be eligible for a $250 referral discount.

What if my camper has allergies?
Beth El Day Camp is nut-free. It's essential for our team to be aware of your camper's food and environmental allergies. Our nurse reviews all food labels for allergens that may affect your child. We can accommodate dairy-free and gluten-free diets.

What happens if my camper gets sick while at camp?
A full-time registered nurse is on duty to handle minor injuries and dispense medication. If your camper becomes ill or injured during the camp day, we will contact you. If your camper is home due to illness, please inform the camp office at 914-235-2700 x256 or via email at daycamp@bethelnr.org and campnurse@bethelnr.org. We need to know if your child has seen a pediatrician and is considered contagious.

When can my camper return to camp if they are sick?
Campers may return only after being fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications, free from vomiting for at least two solid meals, and free from diarrhea for at least 24 hours. For contagious rashes, campers must be free from itching or fever. In the case of lice, appropriate treatment must be completed at home, and proof must be provided to the nurse. If your camper’s pediatrician deems them non-contagious, they may return to camp with a doctor’s note.

What if my camper needs to take medications during camp?
Medication must be handed directly to the nurse by a parent or guardian. It should be in the original pharmacy container with your child's name, accompanied by written instructions indicating dosage, administration time, and refrigeration needs. All medications require signed permission from a parent or guardian for the nurse to dispense. Medications will be locked in the nurse's area and dispensed only by the nurse.

My camper does not know how to swim. Is the pool safe?
Campers are closely supervised by American Red Cross Certified Lifeguards. Morning swim instruction follows the American Red Cross "Learn to Swim" curriculum, while afternoon recreational swim offers a refreshing treat! Each camper undergoes a swim check for safety and is assigned a wristband indicating their skill level, alerting staff to their swimming ability. Our shallow end starts at 18 inches, making it perfect for beginner swimmers.

My camper is not potty trained. Can they come to camp?
Yes! We welcome campers of all bathrooming abilities. Our staff is trained to change diapers, but they are not equipped to potty train your camper. Due to health code regulations, our pool is reserved for potty-trained campers. If your camper is not potty trained, they can still enjoy our water tables! If your camper is potty trained but experiences recurring accidents, we require five consecutive accident-free days before they can return to the pool.

Does camp offer transportation?
Beth El Day Camp does not provide busing; families are responsible for drop-off and pick-up. We are happy to assist in finding a carpool. Additionally, we offer extended care for families needing extra childcare beyond our regular hours. See below for more information.

Does camp provide extended care?
Yes! We offer before care for all of our groups and after care for all campers who are at camp for the full camp day (4:00 pm dismissal). We offer tailored options for extended care to suit your family’s specific needs. Click here to learn more.

What should my camper bring/wear to camp?
What to wear: Campers should arrive wearing a bathing suit under their clothes, as most swim twice a day! Please pack a second bathing suit if swimming is listed twice on your camper's schedule. We recommend packing a wet bag or plastic bag for returning wet bathing suits. All campers must wear appropriate and safe camp attire, including velcro sneakers or closed shoes that cover the entire foot, and comfortable play clothes. Please label every shoe and sock! Apply sunscreen to your camper every morning before camp; we will reapply as needed.

What to pack: All campers are expected to bring an extra labeled outfit (shorts, t-shirt, socks, and underwear) in a labeled Ziploc bag, which will remain at Beth El all summer. Please pack cream sunscreen—no spray sunscreens—and label it to be left at camp. We strongly discourage campers from bringing toys or items of monetary or sentimental value.
